| This web site began as a mere family tree project. I have always wanted to find out as much as possible about my ancestors. Thai families are quite large, and Thai people tends to extend their association to further than the eyes could see. Some would go as far as saying that the whole population of the kingdom is related!
During my research, I came across so many interesting figures that may or may not be related, and I could not just forget about them. To compile the information into a book is far from feasible, but I still want to give out the information to anyone who might be interested. The web seems appropriate enough. This is also a good way of categorizing the information for myself too - so here I am. I am really into history, and the more I read, the more I want to read more. There are so many unanswered questions! The Thai way of keeping records is not that brilliant as we weren't the kind of people that keep records. Some important documents were most probably burnt with Ayudhya. When Bangkok was built, people were still at war, so no one had the time to keep records. Everything started to take shape during the reign of King Rama IV. Luckily there are books out there, written by the people who took the time to do some thorough reseach. So, the seach goes on, and hence this website keeps expanding. You may wonder why I use English rather than Thai, as Thai people might have better use of this information? I was educated abroad most of my life, and typing and arranging the pages in Thai take far too much time than I can spare. In any case, this information could be of some interest to our foreign friends out there, which I’m glad to say that many have shown an interest in the old Siamese Royalty site – enough for me to want to expand it, as I am trying to do now. Well, enough about me. Please enjoy. |
