Soravij Bhirombhakdi presents the Siamese Collection : A historical look at Thailand when she was Siam or Siamese
|
Welcome to the Siamese Collection. This site began from my research into my own family tree, and having a personal interest in the Royal Family of Thailand, as well as the history of Thailand. It keeps on expanding when I find some new information that I want to catalogue, and then for the purpose of sharing with family members. When I realise that there is an interest from our friends in the Web World, I thought that I might as well make the information public, so that everyone can learn more about my beloved country, Royal Family and the Thai culture. Please feel free to leave comments, as I do try to make the information as accurate as possible. All the information are facts that I have found in books, as well as from talking to the older generations. Articles that are from my personal points-of-view will be stated otherwise. I do hope you enjoy going through this site, and I hope to keep on expanding and adding new information when time permits. |

Siam, as Thailand was known, became a country because of the Kings. Bangkok became the new capital city because of a King. The modernisation of Siam, making what the country is today, came about because of the Kings. Thailand has a long and fascinating history because of the Kings. The monarchy was and still is the centre of the Thai culture. His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the longest reigning monarch in the world today, gave Thailand his life, while politicians kept changing, Prime Ministers kept changing - no one could or would give their lives to the country the way the King has done. This is a fact. This site is a personal site, as well as a tribute to all that have made a difference in the history of the Thai Kingdom, bettering the lives of the people, and making the Kingdom of Thailand a peaceful country. |

| Please note that some pages are still of the old design. I'm trying to update all of them, as well as presenting an easier-to-read design.
